    Love my Swingbyte 2!
Love my Swingbyte 2! Have used it to for a couple months and played some of the best golf of my life and that’s no coincidence. It has really helped me focus on my swing plane. I also like the video feature. Previously, I had a competing product, but the Swingbyte has much more information and feedback, better graphics and the New Virtual Coach software is very interesting as well. If you don’t want to spend thousands of dollars to buy a TrackMan, this is definitely the next best thing. It’s very easy to set-up and use.

Have had only one problem with a rubber strap failing, but I know it is something they are working on remedying. Customer Support has been the best and they got me back up and running in no time.

Great Data for a Great Price
This is a very cool training device that gives you some very usable data. I tested it up against a Flight scope and most of the information was very accurate. Club face angle is probably the most inconsistent data due to the inability of the device to stay square through impact. Overall though, a great device for the price!

Good info. Not the most accurate
Good info. Not the most accurate, and it does slip every once in a while, but at least it gives you some general information that you can use to adjust the swing.

Great tool! Love the data and the video sync
Great tool! Love the data and the video sync. Two opportunites for improvement. 1. It slips on occasion. 2. I wish more data was available to explain what everything and provide a benchmarks (like trackman has avg. PGA pro numbers)

    LOT of Information

I’ve used this now for 5 sessions on the range and overall I have to say I’m pleased with it. It gives a lot of information but keep in mind everything is based on the device’s relationship to the club’s leading edge. If it’s not aligned correctly, everything but your swing speed and tempo numbers will not be accurate. You also have to take the other numbers with a slight grain of salt since you “eyeball” the alignment by sighting a line on the device to your club’s leading edge. It would be easy to be off 2-3 * and that will of course change the numbers you get when its provided face path numbers, in/out, open/closed, shaft lean, etc. This makes it important to glance at you club after each swing to verify it’s not shifted. As long as you consistently set it to your clubs leading edge, while your numbers may not be exact, you’ll be within a consistent range that you can use to work on.

Not quite ready for all golfers

I was very excited about this device. I’m a low handicap player and was looking for a way to continue working on the key points of my golf lesson with immediate feedback. I love what the device attempts to give the golfer – a quick view of each swing with an option to mark some for later review. In concept, I’d be able to pinpoint some moves that I’m doing to ensure I repeat the good ones and remove the bad.

This device didn’t work for me for a few reasons:
    1. Swing plane wasn’t accurately recorded. In conjunction with my instructor, we determined that the swing plane recording of my swing wasn’t a true representation of my actual swing (Hunter Mahan style with a flatter backswing and a straight path with the feeling of finishing low and left)
    2. Heel and thin hits would jar the device enough to cause a need to realign and taking a divot after the shot was also moving the device. I understand this is “fixed” if you use it in conjunction with an iPad, but I don’t have one of those.
    3. Swing speed wasn’t accurately reported. The device reported my driver swing speed 10 mph lower than a Trackman on average.
    4. Impact with the ball wasn’t accurately reported. The device showed impact too late.

Overall it is a nice device that may work for some, but not for me. The golf swing is very complex with multiple levers, the club being only one of those. The body, arms, and wrists are all moving as well. I’ll wait until one of these devices comes out that is more accurate.

Poor Construction of a Good Concept

I’m rewriting my review for the Swingbyte 2 fourteen months after purchase. I can no longer recommend this device based upon my experience with it.

My device is now in the trash due to a failed battery and cracked plastic housing. I’ve also had recurring problems with the rubber hinge and plastic cover for the charging port, both of which frequently came loose. Customer Service says the battery cannot be serviced, and can only offer a replacement unit – at a cost higher than is available on Amazon.

This is a great concept when it works – unfortunately the construction is poor and not durable. When I opened the device to investigate the failed battery, I was disappointed at the unprotected and unsealed circuitry covered by the cheap, thin plastic case. No wonder Amazon comments are filled with stories of broken units.

This was a Swingbyte 2 – hopefully the Swingbyte 3 will be better designed and constructed.

    Best Customer Support, bar none.

This device is pretty awesome. I purchased it mainly to study my swing speeds…and let me tell you, it is almost identical to the devices that they use during personal fitting sessions. The swing speed measurements are pretty accurate, and are within 1-2 mph of what you will see on the Trackman launch monitors, etc.
The device is not perfect though, although this device iteration is much better than the first due to the improved latching mechanism. However, the device will still slip and rotate around the club shaft at times, making certain measurements inaccurate unless you are religious about repositioning the device to be aligned with the club face as necessary.
Overall, this deserves 5 stars due to the outstanding customer support provided by the company. I had one issue in the past where the rubber latch was cracked and the company sent out an immediate replacement. Subsequently, the device started malfunctioning and turning off randomly. After talking with customer support, they offered to replace the device even though I was no longer within the one-year warranty period. I had to pay some shipping and handling fees, so it wasn’t a free replacement…but it was so refreshing to see a company stand behind their product. Many others watching their short term bottom line would have said, sorry you are out of warranty and s*** out of luck, buy a new one if something broke.
These actions have earned Swingbyte a customer for life. I am looking forward to forward iterations of the Swingbyte device and have been raving to all my buddies about the company.

Good fun and informative with a few small issues

Dont get me wrong, I like this product. First off the case was nice and it had a little place in the bottom to store the charger so you dont lose it. Once I got it on the golf club i had as little trouble making sure it was square to the club face. It would be nice if it had an auto center feature, otherwise it might say youre too closed at impact when really the censor is just a bit misalligned. Beyond that the item itself does work very well and comes with some very cool features like the 3d view and the ability to see the speed of the club by showing if its green or red. It provides some of the best basic stats you wouldnt be able to get unless youre on a launch monitor but my fear is that if you set it up incorrectly than your entire group of numbers could be off so its very much reliant on the user. It also slips a bit if you swing hard like me. So you could set it up correctly and after 10 swings it might slide to the side a bit and throw everything off. Also the clip that holds it on is a bit weak and I can see mine starting to crack so that could be bad. Otherwise its a very cool product for the average golfer or new player who wants to get an idea of what the heck a golf swing should look like and what they should be focusing on. Id buy the upgraded version if they ever came out with one. I have asked them to address these issues and they responded very quickly which means a lot to me as well. Id say its worth it unless you have access to a way more expensive piece of technology.

Rotates and slides on some shafts.

I’ve had my Swingbyte2 for a full day now and although I’m impressed with the device and the software I am disappointed with the way it attaches to the shaft. Most of my set has shafts with a diameter of .5″ measured just below the grip. For these clubs, the Swingbyte attaches snugly to the shaft and does not move.

But, my Cleveland wedges have a shaft diameter of .45″ and the Swingbyte is very loose, so loose that it rotates and slides on the shaft with every shot, even on easy pitch shots. In my mind, this makes the numbers produced questionable or useless. I also have a second driver with a shaft diameter of .6″. I made a start at attaching the Swingbyte but chose not to finish. I had read the reviews here about failure of the attaching device and it seemed that attaching it to this club would stretch the rubber too far.

I did send a query to Swingbyte. Their reply, in a nutshell, said that this is a hard problem to solve. I have not yet decided whether I will keep it and live with its limited usefulness or return it to get something else with a better attachment mechanism.

If you decide to try the Swingbyte, I’d suggest measuring your shafts first. .5″ is OK. .45″ is definitely not. Also, look carefully at the attachment mechanisms for it and it’s competition.
