What size golf simulator screen do I need? Our most recommended screen size for golf simulation is something within a few inches of 9.5′ Wide x 7′ High. This will allow a common short throw projector with a throw ratio of . 5:1 to fill up the entire screen from a projection distance of around 6′.

So as a practical matter, you’ll generally want to use a projector resolution that has a native 16:9 or 16:10 aspect ratio, and adjust the image to give you a 4:3 aspect ratio plus letterboxing.

Polyester mesh is a good fabric choice since it’s lightweight, durable, and affordable. Varying levels of screen quality can be achieved by adding layers of polyester mesh, making the screen sturdier and preventing light from bleeding through.

In short, the 4:3 is often more common for golf simulators because it allows you to go taller, giving you more room to swing, without needing a wider room. While the 16:9 is great for 4K and HD images it also means you will need a minimum of 13.5 feet of available width.

12-16 inches

Keep enough space between the screen and any walls or objects behind it to avoid contact when the screen is hit. This actual distance required will depend on the force of your swing, but in most cases 12-16 inches is recommended.
These golf simulator screens are designed and manufactured in house, and are ideal for those looking to create a DIY golf simulator. …

The distance between the hitting area and screen in your golf simulator should be at least 6-7ft and can be up to 14ft and longer. The tee to screen distance is a balance between immersion, reducing impact screen bounceback and allowing maximal accuracy from your launch monitor.

Your impact screen needs to be durable, which means it should withstand many thousands of impacts with golf balls travelling at high speed. The Preferred screen from Carl’s Place is rated for a lifespan of 2000-5000 shots whilst the Premium Screen is rated for up to 15000 shots.

The brighter your room is, the more important it is to have a high lumens projector. As a general rule of thumb, you can get by in dark rooms with lumens above 2000+ but we typically recommend getting a projector above 3000+ for the best golf simulation experience.

Good quality, though not as heavy material as what you’d find at the pro-shop. I’m using a white tarp behind the impact screen for additional support.
