Ideal Space Requirements
Approach R10 launch monitor should be 6-8 feet behind the tee location. Note: Make sure the bottom edge of the device sits above the hitting surface.
Best practice is to place your tee 10′-12′ away from the impact screen. More space is better for bounceback and for radar-based launch monitors to read the ball

Love my R10
I was getting nervous about the R10 based on some of the tests I was seeing, but I have been absolutely thrilled with it. There have already been some firmware updates that have made improvements and helped eliminate some of the early issues people were seeing. I bought the R10 to hit into a net in my garage, and it has been a blast. I feel like I am seeing reasonable shot lengths with every club except driver though some of that may be swing hesitancy on my part. I know I have plenty of room to hit, but I feel like my swing with driver has been more hesitant. I’ve got 5-6 months coming where no outside golf is possible where I live so I’m really excited about the prospect of still “playing” golf with my R10.

As promised
I love my Garmin R10! I must admit I preordered it early on because I knew it would be a difficult product to get once released to the market. SIG promoted that I would receive by mid September and I received it right before Labor Day weekend. Not only did they deliver on their promise but they exceeded it by ensuring a high demand product was delivered early. I would absolutely buy from them again!

Its a keeper!
Still early but it seems to be pretty solid after three trips to the range. I had it on the range with a trackman and the numbers were pretty close with very few mystery numbers. Our head teaching pro was impressed with the side by side results. Given the price point I am very pleased. At this point I have only used it on an outdoor range using the “Golf Sim Driving Range”. I only purchased the device to use on an outdoor range so I have no real interest in some of the indoor golf simulator functionality of the R10. I will say that excessive waggles will prevent the R10 from being ready for a swing to be recorded. You can get a feel for acceptable movement by the status of the ready light that is easily visible. The other issue is trying to make sure that you are aligned properly to make sure that the numbers are as accurate as possible. I purchased a stand designed for the R10 on Etsy that uses an alignment stick to help line up the device to the hitting area. The battery life for the device is fine but the app really chewed through the battery on my phone. I would suggest having an extra phone battery handy for extended range time.

Middle quality and value, not in a great way
Spent a couple weeks testing this out and returned it. It struggled with accuracy when hitting into a backyard net, even with plenty of flight clearance beyond the recommendation. It also struggled to reliably register hits at the local range (perhaps because it uses Top Tracer, or because of other balls flying around). In general it was useful for distance on the range when it registered, and provided a lot of data, but the bulk of the data was questionable (ball flight simulation definitely was off by quite a bit on the full range hits that did register). Overall I was underwhelmed for the price. I returned the R10, and will get a simpler PRGR which aims for fewer features, but more consistently nails them. If I want to invest down the line in a more simulator-capable set up I’ll save up a bit more for one of the higher tier like a Bushnell, Mevo+, GC3, etc. The R10 was more of a compromise than desire. It wasn’t terrible but wasn’t a good value for my needs.

Amazing, go get one!
If I could give this 10 stars I would, is it perfect….no, but for what you get it has exceeded every expectation. First, the price, $600 bucks for some amazing tech. Lightweight fits easily in my bag and it’s easy to use. The metrics you get are amazing and the video is incredible. I’ve used it three times on the range and have already improved my ball striking. I have a problem of flipping my wrists and not creating lag….most of us struggle with this. Now I’m able do some drills and when I hit a ball pure, I can see if I’m indeed hitting down and creating lag. It’s helping me remember the “right” feeling. Kudos to the Garmin engineers and to Garmin for making a launch monitor with so many features affordable. I haven’t used the simulator yet but I just ordered a Net Return so I’m excited to hit balls at home.

Amazing for the price
This launch monitor is comparable to the $2000+ competitors. Distances are quite accurate once you have it set up correct. Takes a bit of playing around to get it perfect, but once you find it, this thing is bang on. It does best with longer ball flight, so at a range is ideal. Inside minimum would be around 8′ to net, but that’s when numbers on the woods are a bit short. The simulation is fun as well, but I’ve been using it for swing analysis and improvement. The amount of club and ball data is great! Spin is calculated, so that one is quite off, but attack angle, club face, club path, club speed, ball speed are all within acceptable limits of accuracy.
Super portable, can take to the range, set it up in the backyard, or an indoor sim setup. Very impressed for the price.
