10 reviews for Ernest Sports ES14 Pro Golf Launch Monitor

Was excited but not a good unit. Annoying setup and very inaccurate.

I read a bunch of reviews and was excited to get this unit. I’m a 15 handicap so I don’t hit the ball perfectly every time but I do have a fairly good handle on the distances I hit the ball. This unit was very short on all of my clubs. I hit my 8 iron 140 yds and it would consistently show around 100 yards. Another frustration was sooo many unregistered shots. It sucks when you get everything setup, hit a shot that you really want to see the data for and just get nothing. It’s also very annoying trying to get the ball in the right place and the unit at the right angle. They provide a cardboard cutout that you put on the ground behind the unit to tell you where to put the ball. It’s really annoying because the cardboard is floppy and moves around. It’s also very distracting. In addition, depending which club you hit, you have to adjust the stand angle. Too much setup but I guess you only get so much at this price point. I’m selling mine on ebay and splurging on a skytrak. Hopefully that gets me what I want or I’ll return it within the window.

Stay away from ES products as they do more calculations then anything.
Reason for poor feedback is that the product does a poor job of the following. Launch Angle, spin rate, and actual distance with irons measured against GC2 and Golf Blaster. The club head speed and ball speed are some times more then 3 mph difference which is considerable I my opinion for a 500$ launch monitor. No Returns as well which is quite frustrating.

Great for indoor winter distance practice in a driving cage with real ball. Hooked up to an iPad or other bluetooth device the audio feedback is great. More audio feedback to include club head speed and smash factor would be a very helpful addition to the product. The results email is also great for record keeping over time in a spreadsheet.

    Great Tool!
This launch monitor does exactly as advertised. If you want a tool that measures distance, swing speed, smash factor and a few other pieces of data, the ES14 is great! The other reviews complain about features they wished it had but no where does the company claim it can measure fades or slices. If you read the features or did 5 minutes of research, you would know exactly what this can do. I’m not sure why these folks bought the unit then complained about it. I wish I could it give it a full 5 stars but they really need to update their Android app to have the same features as the Apple version.

    ES14 Review

I am exceedingly pleased about this product. In the short time I have owned this product it has allowed me to see my improved launch angle(now consistent 12degrees), increased club head speed from 99mph to 105mph and reduced spin rate(2200RPM) on my driver so that I am now hitting the ball over 40yds further (230yds to 270yds). The idea being that as I improve I can see my improvement in the areas I needed the most help. This product combined with the smart phone app are a must for every serious golfer. The incredible results without paying crazy money for a Trackman system are undeniable! Awesome product for the money!

Ernest Sports ES14 – No need to spend $5000.00 to $25,000.00

This launch monitor does the job. A golfer does not need to spend a fortune to get some basic information about the results of a golf swing – club head speed, ball speed, smash factor, distance, launch angle, and ball spin. It can easily be set up for every club in your bag. The software accumulates, stores, and sends via Bluetooth all the stats to your smart phone or tablet. What we amateur golfers are looking for is the average stats for each club. This monitor is a good value for the dollar. My club pro now refers to me as “Smash Factor”.

    Great tool for game improvement

I have only used the ES14 a handful of times. Overall, I am very happy with the purchase. I have been using this launch monitor to optimize the launch angle of my irons and woods. I have a JPX-900 driver and I have been able to tune the driver setting where I am now getting 15-20 yards of carry. The summary page for each club gives you average club performance.

ES14 Great Practice & Feeting Tool

Works well. Pretty accurate. Instant feedback. Seem less integration with smartphone or tablet.

I was impressed with the accuracy of the ES14 and the ability to pick up each shot. I was seeing slightly longer carry distances of around 2-to-4 yards reported, but that is the kind of accuracy I would expect and want to have in a launch monitor at this price.

There’s a program button on the side. He hit the program button once. And it’s kind of hard to push. So you can change your altitude. And you can win when you’re in the program mode.

The ES14 is based on Doppler technology and it has two Doppler radars to take readings. The first radar faces forward to capture the ball trajectory data and the second radar faces backward to capture club head data. The monitor delivers a wide range of statistical data instantly.

If you’re doing various golf workouts and trying to increase your swing speed, your monitor will help you track progress over time. Another way that your launch monitor can help your driver is with launch angle. Unlike most clubs, the driver is hit with an upward attack since it’s teed up so high.

Q: Are all personal golf launch monitors accurate? A: Not all are as accurate as enterprise solutions like, Foresight and Trackman. But according to the results of our test there are accurate units. The Rapsodo was more than 90% accurate on all data sets, with the exception of spin.

Smash factor is one of the data parameters given by a launch monitor. It is calculated from ball speed and clubhead speed and is available on a wide range of launch monitors. Smash factor is also known as Power Transfer Index. Smash factor is the ratio of ball speed to clubhead speed in golf.

Trackman Launch Monitor

Using much of the same technology and concepts at the GC Quad, Trackman is another device used widely on the PGA Tour and you’ll see it dotted across professional and amateur ranges across the world helping golfers analyse their game.

The Takeaway: Mevo+ provides a ton of really useful data. But like other launch monitors in this price range, it misses some more advanced club head data. Mevo+ provides 16 data points. It provides all the most important data metrics such as carry and total distance, ball speed & club speed, and spin rate & axis.

SkyTrak is a photometric launch monitor, which means it uses high speed cameras to capture a series of images of the golf ball for a few feet right after impact. Ball speed, launch angle, backspin, side spin and side angle are directly measured, and other data points such as carry and total distance are estimated.

The Rapsodo MLM launch monitor uses the relatively inexpensive camera in your phone along with its own relatively inexpensive radar to do its job. The two work together so, as soon as you hit the ball, both the radar and the camera are tracking it.
