As a general rule of thumb, you can get by in dark rooms with lumens above 2000+ but we typically recommend getting a projector above 3000+ for the best golf simulation experience. Throw ratio refers to the distance the projector is from the screen versus how diagonally wide the screen is.

Feet away now in my case i also have with this projector. I have a zoom lens. So with the zoom lens if you look at the bottom here i can go telephoto or what angle. So if i put it at 1.2.

Without a quality projector, you will not reap all the benefits available from a golf simulator. Sub-standard projectors produce low-quality images that can spoil the experience. Quality projectors will enable you to play some of the most renowned golf courses while displaying the intricacies in high definition.

The throw ratio spec for any projector assumes you’re using the full width of the native resolution, which isn’t true for many home golf simulators. The best position for the projector will usually be roughly 4 feet behind the tee location, which makes the distance easy enough to figure out.

Because it has a square setup, the most popular setups use a “short throw” MX825ST XGA lamp-based projector.

A 16′ by 9′ screen is the ideal screen size for a golf simulator. The 16 feet in length provides the ideal aspect ratio of 16:9 and provides enough space to swing a golf club without fear or hitting a wall. This frees golfers up to play their best golf.

In short, where do you need to mount it? You need a projector mounted far enough away from your swing area so you don’t hit it with the club or ball. You also need to avoid shadows by not mounting it directly behind you.

Most projectors provide keystone correction of +/-30 degrees or more, which allows you to square off the image if you end up tilting the projector to aim it at the screen.

Short-throw projection generally refers to a distance between 3 to 8 feet away from projector to screen. … Ultra-short throw projection refers to a distance between 0 to 4 feet away from projector to screen.
