11 reviews for Optoma EH412ST Golf Simulator Projector

  1. Emma

    Overall Good Projector.
Its a pretty good quality projector, but you really need complete darkness in the room to get bright colors.

  2. Olivia

    Optoma EH412ST Projector
Never used a projection system before so I’m not familiar with how great (or not) picture quality, color and sharpness should be. Setup and installation was easy. Use of the projector and it’s remote is as simple as a television. While I need to research further on fine tuning picture quality, I would rate the picture as fair. I was anticipating colors would be bolder and brighter but perhaps this is just how projection systems are.

  3. Oliver

    Amazing

Bought this for a golf simulator I have in my garage. The projector came with zero instructions! I found manual online that is just not the same as holding a paper copy. After many YouTube videos and google searches I figured how to set it up in my garage and it works perfectly! Very nice picture quality. Built in speaker is horrible. Buy a sound bar for sure.

    Possible refurbish

Decent price for this kind of projector. However, I think this is a refurbish. The HDMI ports do not work. I want this projector, but this exact one!

Hello! Yes it can!

However a native 4:3 aspect ratio goes hand-in-hand with lower resolution than anyone would want for a golf simulator. So as a practical matter, you’ll generally want to use a projector resolution that has a native 16:9 or 16:10 aspect ratio, and adjust the image to give you a 4:3 aspect ratio plus letterboxing.

  • BenQ MW632ST WXGA Short Throw Projector.

The brighter your room is, the more important it is to have a high lumens projector. As a general rule of thumb, you can get by in dark rooms with lumens above 2000+ but we typically recommend getting a projector above 3000+ for the best golf simulation experience.

The best projectors for golf simulators are 4K projectors with short throw technology. The importance of this short throw technology can not be understated. If you don’t have that option, there will be issues with image projection and shadows.

The throw ratio spec for any projector assumes you’re using the full width of the native resolution, which isn’t true for many home golf simulators. The best position for the projector will usually be roughly 4 feet behind the tee location, which makes the distance easy enough to figure out.

Ultimate SkyTrak SIG12 or GS13 studio – 4K laser projector

To light up the SkyTrak SIG12 with its massive display area over 160 inches, or enable the widescreen GS13 Studio to look like a giant 190” television, a true 4K laser projector is the perfect match for these screens.

16:9 is the most common aspect ratio used in a golf simulator impact screen setup. This is the standard aspect ratio used in newer television and computer monitors. An impact screen that is 16ft wide by 9ft high viewable area, would be able to show the entirety of a HD 16:9 image without any distortion.

Throw distance is the distance from the tip of the projector’s lens to the screen. … So for example, the most common projector throw ratio is 2.0. This means that for each foot of image width, the projector needs to be 2 feet away or D/W = 2/1 = 2.0.

If you plan to keep your room dark, we recommend a projector with no less than 2000 lumens. It would be wise to invest in a projector that produces 3000+ lumens, so you can be sure that you’ll have a bright and clear image at all times.

At HD 1080p (1920 x 1080) resolution, the Optoma EH200ST is our pick for Best Projector for Golf Simulators. With this projector, you get a bright 3000 lumens HD quality image that allows for a life-like golf simulator experience.

About 7-8 feet from the screen is sufficiently away from the screen to avoid a ball hitting a projector, and no more than 3 or 4 feet behind the player to avoid shadows. Based on this, you can measure the distance to the impact screen and the height of the screen, and then calculate the throw ratio you need.

The most advanced golf simulators have been optimized for use with software that support 4K outputs. To get the most popular software such as E6 CONNECT or TGC 2019 with their latest updates, you need a 4K projector.
